FAQ Schema

FAQ schema (FAQPage in schema.org) is structured data that marks up a list of frequently asked questions and their answers. When implemented correctly, it enables Google to show expandable question-answer pairs directly in search results beneath your listing.

Why It Matters for Shopify Stores

FAQ rich results can more than double the vertical space your listing occupies in Google SERPs — showing 2–3 expandable questions beneath your title and meta description. This increased visibility improves click-through rate and brand awareness even for users who don't click. For Shopify stores, adding FAQ schema to product pages (with common purchase questions), category pages, and the homepage is a relatively quick win with potentially significant CTR improvement.

How to Check Your Store

Test any page with an FAQ section at Google's Rich Results Test. Look for FAQPage schema type in the results. If FAQ content exists on the page but no schema is present, it's an easy addition.

How to Fix It

Add JSON-LD FAQPage schema to pages with FAQ sections. Structure each Q&A pair as a Question object with acceptedAnswer. Validate at Rich Results Test and monitor in Google Search Console > Rich results status.
