Page Experience
Page Experience is Google's umbrella ranking signal that combines Core Web Vitals, mobile-friendliness, HTTPS, and absence of intrusive interstitials. Pages that pass all Page Experience criteria receive a minor ranking advantage over comparable pages that don't.
Why It Matters for Shopify Stores
Google's Page Experience update (2021) formalized the idea that how a page feels to use affects rankings — not just what the page says. For Shopify stores, passing Page Experience means: all Core Web Vitals in 'Good' range (LCP < 2.5s, CLS < 0.1, INP < 200ms), served over HTTPS, mobile-friendly, and no full-screen interstitials blocking content. Most legitimate Shopify stores meet the HTTPS and mobile requirements; Core Web Vitals is where most stores fail.
How to Check Your Store
Google Search Console has a dedicated Page Experience report showing the percentage of URLs passing or failing. Check both mobile and desktop categories.

Address Core Web Vitals failures first — they're the hardest requirement and the most impactful. HTTPS is automatic on Shopify. Mobile-friendliness: use a responsive theme. Interstitials: ensure popups don't block content on mobile page load.
