Product Schema

Product schema is a type of structured data (schema.org/Product) that describes a product's attributes — name, description, price, availability, brand, and review data — in machine-readable JSON-LD format. It enables Google to display product information directly in search results.

Why It Matters for Shopify Stores

Product schema enables rich product panels in Google Shopping and enhanced product snippets in organic results showing price and availability. It's the single most important schema type for Shopify stores because it connects your product pages to Google's understanding of what you're selling. Shopify themes automatically output Product schema, but it may be incomplete, incorrectly formatted, or missing the AggregateRating data that enables star ratings.

How to Check Your Store

Test any product URL at Google's Rich Results Test. Look for 'Product' schema. Check that price, availability, and review data (if you have reviews) are correctly parsed.
